PROBABLY… “THE BEST BREAKFAST IN THE WORLD”
The five star Hotel Maricel at Cas Catala, close to Palma, has been awarded with the title of "The Best Breakfast in the World" by the International Gastronomic Conference in Madrid "Madrid Fusion" which brings together top chefs from all over the world.
The judges awarded the Hotel Maricel, not only because of the breakfast, which includes 8 different sets of dishes from kiwi and cheese ice-cream and melon and ginger juice, to a wide selection of breads & cakes such as sobrasada (local sausage) plumcake, cereals and dairy products such as mini yoghurts with carob & vanilla mousse, and various drinks including mandarin and a peppermint herb (hierba luisa)
The way in which this breakfast is served also impressed the judges. There is no menu nor buffet, the waiter talks the guest through the dishes in detail and obviously any individual requests can be catered for. Price per person in 30 euros (approx £20).
