MALLORCA AND ALL THAT JAZZ

International jazz musicians including Lee Konitz, McCoy Tyner Trio, Michael Brecker, Charlie Haden, Carla Bley and Ute Lemper, will gather in Mallorca this summer at the first Jazz Voyeur Festival to be held on the island. Dates for this festival run through July and August 2004.

The Jazz Voyeur Festival will take place in Mallorca’s Grand Casino (approx 10 mins drive from the resort of Palmanova in Calvia) where the organisers intend to recreate the spirit of jazz in a warm and informal atmosphere. Alongside the music there will be an exhibition of photos, paintings and videos. There will also be jam sessions for local artists to become involved with the opportunity to attend a master class with some of the great names of jazz. Another established jazz event on the island is the Mallorca Jazz Sa Pobla 2004, which has been running for 10 years and starts on August 2nd – August 25th . This year it will feature Roy Hargrove RH Factor, Jerry Gonzalez, Charles Lloyd Quarter and the Agusti Fernandez Quartet. Admission is free for all concerts which start at 10 pm in the Plaza Major of Sa Pobla.
