MALLORCA TO HOST WORLD VELODROME CHAMPIONSHIPS 2007

Mallorca wins bid from four other candidates.

The International Cyclist Union has just announced Mallorca’s winning bid to host The World Velodrome Championships in Spring 2007. Mallorca was selected from four other candidates.

Approval of plans to construct the new velodrome have been given the green light by the Balearic Government. The velodrome will comply with official competition requirements and will measure 250 metres in length by 7 metres in width.

Mallorca has long been recognised as a favourite destination for cyclists and is currently in the middle of a four year plan to construct 235 kilometres of special cycling routes through the centre of the island. Approximately 162 kilometres of the final total will be completed by the end of this year.
