FIRST INTERNATIONAL TAPAS FAIR TO BE HELD ON MALLORCA, OCTOBER 27TH - 30TH

Palma de Mallorca has converted into the Interntional Tapas Capital according to the local Restaurateurs Association, organisers of this event, called TaPalma.

Mallorca is to host the first international tapas fair, called TaPalma, at the end of this month at the Pueblo Español in Palma. According to the local Restaurateur Association, the organisers of the event, it has been started in response to the terrific demand for tapas dishes from local residents and the millions of tourist visitors each year to the island. The organisers claim that Palma is now the international tapas capital and intend to make TaPalma an annual event.

Approximately 20 bars and restaurants will participate together with 10 bodegas. Many of the restaurants will feature “new” tapas dishes based on local Mallorcan recipes. TaPalma will be open daily from Thursday, October 27th through to Sunday, October 30th. Opening times are 12.30 – 16.00 and 19.00 – 00.00 daily. Entrance costs 3 euros per person to include a free wine glass. A minimal charge will be made to taste a wide range of tapas from 1.20 to 3.60 euros, depending on the content.

Tapas are generally regarded in Spain as either a small snack served with an alcoholic drink, or a more substantial serving which can be eaten as part of a main meal. The variations are endless.
