A round up of facilities and courses available in 2006 in a wide range of spa and health & beauty centres on the island.
If the excesses of Christmas combined with a gloomy winter are all too depressing to face, a short break to one of Mallorca’s many spa and treatment centres maybe just the tonic.
In the past 10 years approximately 50 spa and health & beauty centres have opened (mainly within hotels) on the island and many of these are starting 2006 with a range of special offers and packages. Herewith a few examples:

Mardavall Hotel & Spa - Functional Eating Talks & Cookery Courses
Gerhard Berktold, head chef of the hotel, has collaborated with an Austrian nutrition specialist, Dr Meinrad Lindschinger, over the past two years to write a book on functional eating. The book covers, what they consider to be the seven main building blocks to healthy eating, focusing on certain foods to improve functions within the body. These include: balanced food, beauty food, power food, soul food, brain food, “new age” food and erotic food. All of which can be sampled in the hotel's restaurant.
Furthermore, the hotel now has its own resident nutritionist, Simone Lehr, who gives weekly talks on “Functional Eating”. Cookery courses reflecting the themes of the book will be featured throughout the year from 170 euros per person.

La Reserva Rotana - Anti-Aging Course
The new Klentze Anti-Aging Institute, the first of its kind on the island, will open in December 2005 and various courses will be available throughout 2006.

Spa and beauty treatment packages are also available on a daily basis and many locations. The owners of Palma’s Puro Hotel recently opened the Puro Beach Club and Spa located right on Cala Estancia beach approximately 10 minutes from Palma city centre. The spa features a daily yoga class at 09.30 and visitors are invited to use their facilities from 10am – 8 pm for massages and a range of body treatments.
