NEW PRESIDENT FOR THE MALLORCA TOURIST BOARD

Alvaro Middelmann has been appointed as the new President of the Mallorca Tourist Board (Fomento del Turismo de Mallorca) with immediate effect.

Alvaro Middelmann comes from an aviation background and his company, Middelmann International Marketing Services & Consulting, is currently the Spanish representative for several aviation companies including the highly successful airline, Air Berlin.

He started his career in Iberia, where he joined the air charter transport department as Commercial Director for Transeuropa. He then went on to work in LTU as Sales Director for Long Haul. Prior to this he had the task of researching, preparing and bringing to the market a new Spanish charter airline called LTE, with which he remained as Managing Director up to the end of 1992.

Middelmann was born in Spain and was educated in Madrid, Brussels and Vienna, as a result he speaks Spanish, English, German, French and Italian. He was the founder President of AECA (Spanish Airline Association) and Vice President of IACA (International Association of Independent Airlines).

Commenting on his new appointment, Middelmann said; “My main objective for the next 4 years is to reinforce the role of the Mallorca Tourist Board within the industry. At the end of our Centenary year it is important to ensure that we use all the experience of the past to create a pivotal role in the future and maintain our market lead in the Mediterranean”.
