MALLORCA AND ALL THAT JAZZ 2006

MALLORCA CELEBRATES 3RD MUSIC FESTIVAL FEATURING INTERNATIONAL JAZZ, BLUES & SOUL ARTISTS. PLUS SPRING JAZZ FESTIVAL IN SA POBLA.

Queens of Soul, Gloria Gaynor and Roberta Flack together with the world famous jazz group; the Dave Holland Quintet, Herbie Hancock, Brad Mehldau, and Joshua Redman, are among the top names for this year’s International Music Festival incorporating “Jazz Voyeur 2006” taking place on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca.

This will be the first time all these acts have performed on the island and for many of them it will be their first visit to Europe this year. Alongside the concert a comprehensive photographic exhibition by Mallorcan photographer Gerardo Cañellas, of many of the world’s top jazz musicians will be on display throughout the festival.

The concerts are either taking place in Palma or in the island’s casino, where the concert ticket includes entrance to the casino after the performance. SPRING JAZZ FESTIVAL – SA POBLA

The local town hall of Sa Pobla, located in the centre of the island, is organised a series of international jazz and world music concerts. On April 29 the Inaki Sandoval Trio will be performing. Inaki is the director of the Contemporary Music and Jazz Department of the Barcelona Music Conservatory. Inaki Sandoval, piano; Horacio Fumero, double bass and Peer Wyboris, drums.

On May 27, the Baldo Martinez & Carol Actis Duo will be performing. Martinez, on double bass, is regarded as one of the best performers of contemporary jazz in Spain, together with Italian, Carlo Actiz on clarinet and saxophone they have developed a fusion of music which they call “Imaginary Folklore Jazz”.
