CALVIA LAUNCHES NEW ACTIVITIES IN SEPTEMBER & OCTOBER
Mallorca's Calvia region with its popular tourism resorts of Magaluf, Peguera, Illetes, Puerto Portals, Palma Nova and Santa Ponsa, is launching a packed programme of sports and cultural activities and championships over the next two months to appeal to all ages and abilities.
As part of Mallorca’s objective to develop its tourism beyond the main summer months and create year round tourism activity, one of the island’s top tourism regions, Calvia which is better known for its resorts of Magaluf, Palma Nova, Peguera, Puerto Portals, Illetes and Santa Ponsa, has launched a new initiative for the low season months.
The first phase of the programme, which is being organised by the Calvia Foundation 2004 in conjunction with the Calvia Town Hall, focuses on sports and cultural events and activities in September and October of this year:
DIVING
Underwater Filming & Diving Spanish Championships – September 27-29th. This event is directed at experienced divers to show them the marine life around some of Caliva’s coastline and in particular the two main marine reserves around the “Isla del Toro” and “Islas Malgrats” where this event will take place and where participants can film subaquatic life. Calvia Town Hall has obtained permission to allow divers to diver to a depth of 133 metres, which will take them to 40 metres down onto the Marina de Malgrats reserve.
The prize giving will take place at the Puerto Adriano on September 30th as part of a new Recreational Fishing Fair.
