TOP MALLORCA RESTAURANTS KEEP THEIR MICHELIN STARS
Mallorca, one of Britain’s favourite holiday destinations, is now being recognised for fine dining.
In the latest edition of the Michelin Guide, five establishments on the island have retained their stars and they include:
Tristan’s Restaurant, Puerto Portals (two stars)
Plat D’Or Restaurant, Hotel Arabella Sheraton, Son Vida (one star)
Es Moli d’en Bou, Son Servera (one star)
Restaurant Bacchus, Read’s Hotel, Santa Maria (one star)
Es Racó d'Es Teix, Deiŕ (one star)
Tristan’s Restaurant, Puerto Portals
Chef, Gerhard Schwaigner, specialises in fresh seasonal cuisine. Average price

Plat D’Or Restaurant
Located within the five star Arabella Golf Hotel in Mallorca’s exclusive residential area of Son Vida on the outskirts of Palma. Chef, Rafael Sánchez, has built his reputation on creating innovative Mediterranean cuisine combining traditional Mallorcan style. Average price for 3 courses €65 (excl wine, incl. tax). Es Moli d’en Bou
Mallorcan Chef, Tomeu Caldentey, opened this restaurant in 2000 and was awarded a Michelin star in 2004. His philosophy is to offer creative and simple cuisine based on traditional Mallorcan recipes with a contemporary spin using fresh, seasonal produce. Average price for three courses is €80 euros per head (excluding wine and local tax). A menu of the day at €45 euros per head is available during the week. Tel: + 34 971 569 663.
In spring 2009 this restaurant will change location to the nearby five star luxury Hotel & Spa Protur Sa Coma Playa. There Caldentey can offer his clients better facilities, ample parking and all the services of a luxury hotel.
Bacchus Restaurant
British award winning chef, Marc Fosh, has created a restaurant within Read’s Hotel. His restaurant is rated by the experts as one of the best in Spain and was awarded a Michelin Star in 2002. Features a 7-course gourmet tasting menu at €89 per person and a special seasonal 5 course tasting menu for €79 (excluding wine, including tax). Tel:+ 34 971 40 41
Es Raco d’es Teix
At the foot of the Teix mountain in the picturesque village of Deiŕ, Chef Josef Sauerschell, has created menus based on clean and distinctive flavours, where the focus is on the classical Mediterranean kitchen with a modern twist.

TOP BALEARIC CHEFS PROMOTE LOCAL CUISINE & PRODUCE
This month, 15 of Mallorca’s top chefs will promote for the first time New Balearic Gastronomy in a leading international gastronomic conference; “Lo Mejor de la Gastronomia” in San Sebastian. The team will be preparing a selection of 15 tapas dishes using local island produce and to promote the quality and variety of cuisine in the Balearics.
