MALLORCA’S STUNNING SOUTH EAST COAST

The traditional family seaside resort area of Cala D'Or features some of the island’s most beautiful coastline and beaches. Looking to the future the resort is investing in new facilities and upgrading.

In the past five years the local Santanyi town hall has invested approximately five million Euros to provide better public facilities around the resort including a new pedestrianised way in the main town centre of Cala D’Or making an attractive area for shopping, restaurants and cafes with large terraces to enjoy outside dining plus a new public sports facility with a large covered, heated pool and tennis courts.

Cala D’Or has maintained its charm mainly because of strict building regulations ensuring that no new buildings are built over three storeys high and all buildings are painted white providing a clean, bright environment. The Cala D’Or Marina is possibly one of the most attractive on the island and offers 563 berths surrounded by villas, restaurants, cafes and shops.

Beaches

One of the most important features of this area are the 12 stunning white sandy beaches and coves which are ideal for families including the famous S’Amarador which is considered to be one of the most beautiful in Europe.

Mondragó Nature Reserve

The Mondragó Natural Park covers 765,7 hectares and was declared a nature reserve in 1992 and is the second largest protected nature area in the Balearic Islands after S’Albufera. In 2000 a specially protected bird shelter was introduced. The public can explore the park via special paths to see good examples of the local fauna and flora, wildlife, historic stone shelters and ancient dry stone walls and wells once used by the contrabandists.

Vall d’Or Golf

The Vall d’Or golf is an 18 hole course and combines two completely different landscapes of pine forest, pine, almond and olive trees or coastal sea views. The course is rated as of average difficultly but quite entertaining. The club house features a restaurant/snack bar, a large terrace, locker rooms, pro shop, swimming pool with large sunbathing area and paddle courts.
Green fees start from 98€ for 18 holes and a sunset green fee starts at 60€.
