A SUMMER COCKTAIL OF MUSIC ON MALLORCA

For those visitors looking to do something beyond sunbathing and eating out this summer, Mallorca is featuring a full programme of outside concerts in fabulous historic buildings around the island. Herewith a selection of the most famous:

Pollensa Festival

The cloisters of the 16th century Convent of Saint Dominigo in the centre of Pollensa provide a stunning venue for concerts which range from Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story to Yundi Li and the Prazak Quartet. Chopin Festival

Concerts are featured every Sunday throughout the month of August in the famous Cartuja of Valldemossa where Chopin spent a winter with his lover George Sand. Leading international pianists gather to celebrate, not only the work of Chopin, but also other great classical composers, including: Liszt, Rakhamaninov, Bach and Beethoven. Deia Festival

A great variety of international performers will be in Deia this summer from the Kremlin Chamber Orchestra, the Mallorca Baroque Orchestra and the Camerata de Varsovia featuring pianist Suzanne Bradbury. The Bellver Castle Festival

New Season of Ballet

In addition, the Auditorium in Palma, is hosting a season of ballet every Friday and Saturday evening.
